建築本身沒甚麼，故事人物才是主角。 「Spite house」是指一棟特意為了惹惱鄰居或他人而建造的房子。這種建築通常包含古怪或不實用的設計，其主要目的並非居住，而是表達不滿或競爭。

美國維吉尼亞州亞歷山卓市（Alexandria, Virginia）在 523 Queen Street 的「Spite House」就是其中一個著名例子，據說是由約翰·霍倫斯伯里（John Hollensbury）為了不滿鄰居而建，它是全美最窄的房子之一。
